Snowy Dublin from the Dublin Mountains 2010

Last Friday I went on an amazing hike up the Dublin Mountains in the deep snow. Starting at Grange road in Rathfarnham, I went up the old Whitechurch road to Kilmashogue. From there we hiked up to three rock and came across some amazingly beautiful sights – The Irish Landscape like I’ve never seen before. The following is a little insight into what I saw on the day!

Student Registration Fees March Dublin

Today I went along to the HUGE student march in Dublin’s city centre. The march started at 1pm on Parnell Square, just off O’connell street. There was a great atmostphere, everyone was calm, peaceful collected and there with purpose. They where there with one reason and one reason only!

STOP STUDENT REGISTRATION FEE’S INCREASING

Please help circulate these images & get the word out. Show people what the march was REALLY LIKE. A few minutes of fighting (from thugs) at the end gets all the headlines, show people the spirit of the day!!! Enough talk, I’ll let the pictures do the work!

The Great Sunrise Of Glendalough Lake

It’s 3.20am and not a mouse stirring throughout the house, beep beep, beep beep. The alarm chirps & a groggy headed ginger erupts from the bed. Landscape photographer Kyle Tunney is back!!. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually taken any scenic/landscape shots and being honest, I haven’t missed it one bit. That is, up untill I got to the top of the mountain on Sunday.

Wow I love taking landscapes!!! Getting up at three or four in the morning, Driving, Hiking, Sitting/standing, watching, waiting, wondering, dreaming, listening, meditating and then finally a CLICK. What an amazing experience!!

Sunrise Sky photo from Glendalough Mountains
Lately there seems to be streaks from plane all over the sky. Loving them!

A great set of steps on the hike to the top of the mountain
These are the cracking set of steps you have to climb in the dark. Great fun!!

Beautiful little river on the way back down from Glendalough mountains
If you’ve never been here before for a sunrise, it’s an amazing experience. At 5am, it’s pitch dark, you don’t know where you’re going and can hear an amazing stream while walking up. It’s not for a few hours on your way back down that you get to see it.

A very long exporuse shot of the Glendalough mountains
This shot was taken as I was waiting for the sunrise. It’s a 360 second exposure/6minute photo with a 10stop welder glass on the lens. I was the first time to use this so had nothing with me to hold it onto the lens, it got a bit sore after 5minutes trying not to move or shake while keeping it glued to the glass. Looking forward to trying more of these!!

Photographing Landscapes – Early Riser

Make the most of the day – sometime over the next two weeks try get up extra early with your camera and take a few shots (and Yes… that does imply leaving the comfort of your bed, not just staying in bed with your camera :P ). You’ll feel great after, I promise!!

Dublin Photo walk #2 | Photos

This week was the second photo walk I’ve organised in Dublin and it was a great success! Thanks to everybody who turned out, it was super to see so many new faces!

With having a mix up in communication between a few cool skaters/bmx bikers, getting told off by the Luas and the Titanic scene on a barge it was quite eventful. I have a few quirky ideas for the next walk! Once I have it planned out a bit better I’ll post up a date & time.

Another great Dublin Photo Walk!

As always if you know/think of any way to improve these walks please feel free to send me an email, I’d love to hear all your ideas!!

Dublin Night Photowalk (8pm Tuesday 25th August)

Hey Guys & Gals,
I hope everybody’s keeping well! I’ve had a bit of interest about another photowalk so I thought I’d get the ball rolling. (In Short) – This second night time photowalk will bring us from Harcourt Street, up around Portobello, along the canal as far as Lower Mount Street and then on towards Trinity/Grafton street, depending on how well we’re doing with time.

Dublin Night Photowalk #2 Map

This is a great little walk with lots to shoot and plenty of different situations to try out long exposures, flash, HDR photography and much more! Here are a few of my shots from the last photowalk.
