First Dublin Strobist Meet

Feb 3 | 2009         Write a comment

Sunday was the first Dublin Strobist meet and it was great fun. I can’t wait for the next one. I spent most of the day just walking around observing others and getting ideas. I took a few modelling shots but plan on getting plenty more at the next Dublin Strobist Meetup.

I’ve three or four more keepers from the day but I don’t have the time to process them yet.
#1 – Going for a nice clean portrait
#2 – I was trying to get the feeling of a busy studio/street with a lonely, almost lost woman staring back.
#3 – Dark, animal type feel to this shot. It turned out almost exactly as I wanted.
#3.1 – Just a tighter crop of #3

  1. Lovely shots Kyle. Did you do much photoshop work on them or is this how the lighting worked for you?

A friend of mine was doing the make up at this. Only found out today otherwise I would have come along.

  2. Hey Darren,
Sorry for not getting back sooner but I was away in Italy. Congrats on getting to the next round in the Irish blog award. Small world, eh? Your friend gave me one of her cards but I’m after misplacing it. Could you give her this link or send me over her email address as she wanted to get a few shots for her portfolio.

There is a wee bit of processing done on these shots, mostly just bringing the blacks in and dropping the exposure a little. Not too much else. I’m hoping to do a tutorial on it, once I get a spare minute. Hopefully I’ll see you out snapping sometime soon!
