Fun Dublin Pano – 98 shots

Large Panoramic Photograph outside Trinity College Dublin - Dublin City Centre

This is a fun pano from two years ago, it’s been a long time since I’ve tried these and I used to love doing them. I think it’s time to get back into them!! The end photo is the collaboration of ninety eight, yup, a 98 photo panoramic stitch. Still not as impressive as my 60 pano stitch that you can zoom into or the 17 image pano HDR photo in the snow (Boy that took a while!). I’ve also changed the way in which I process them. Two years ago this would have been a seamless, perfect, flattened looking shot. Almost unrecognisable from a non pano shot apart from the fact you can see it’s a 360 degree angle of outside Trinity and Dublins old central bank. I’m looking forward to taking lots of new shots like this in the next few weeks!!

Have you ever done anything like this before? I’d love to see some of yours!

  1. I have done one or two panoramic shots, but I don’t zoom in like you do Kyle (wouldn’t have the patience!).

Here’s one of Bettystown beech, (it was my first attempt)

    Here’s Howth Hardour:

Naturally I’ve full size versions of these, but I haven’t put them up on Flickr

  2. God my spelling was atrocious in that last post. Beech -> Beach and Hardour->Harbour. Apologies for that.

  3. Very, very cool Kyle.

I take a few panoramas but they’re usually made up of about 5 or 6 pictures. You’re very patient putting 98 shots together, but it pays off – looks great.

    Here’s a couple I put up on pix.ie

  4. Very cool shots! I love how much you can encompass into a pano. Such a wide angle!

Thanks for sharing, it’s great to see your guys work!!

  5. The one trick I learnt was to take panoramic shoots vertically, that way you get as much sky and foreground as possible, it means more shots but a better all round shot. The only other trick I know is to base your exposure on the middle of your shot, then switch the camera to manual mode so the camera doesn’t change the exposure as you pan across the vista.
